At Dukes of Barrington, The Duke Abides

A new Barrington boutique opens for the casually cool male

Posted

Just opened this May, Dukes of Barrington presents itself as a seasoned, well-established business on Barrington’s County Road. Dukes is run by owner Sarah St. Jacques and general manager/buyer Shavoy Lawrence, who noticed a lack of menswear stores in the area and set out to do something about it. Together, they have created a concept boutique with a refreshing sense of style.

Sarah and Shavoy have strict requirements for the items available in their store. Sarah states that their products are “high quality – nothing mass-produced in Asia – predominantly USA or European brands” that abide by strict corporate responsibility procedures – hence their slogan “Do Good. Be Good. With Style.” You’re not likely to find these brands at the mall, as some are being established and others are up-and-coming.

Dukes features an assortment of menswear brands, lifestyle goods and grooming products including leather goods, “athleisure” wear, denim, hats and sneaker bags to name a few. Diehard denim fans will enjoy the selection of raw denim by Baldwin, while the more classic type can enjoy the selvedge denim by brands such as Naked & Famous.

Sarah and Shavoy aim to provide clothing that is fun but of good quality. The quality of the clothes is apparent, especially in the assortment of jackets – a notable brand being Stutterheim Raincoats, handmade in Sweden with no stitches and worn by Kanye West. Other noteworthy items are custom-made shoes from Italy.

For unique styles for high school students to older gentlemen, check out Dukes of Barrington in the Prince’s Hill Plaza in Barrington.
