Your Ice Cream Must-Do’s

Spring weather brings the reopening of delectable dairy joints!

These past few warmer-weather days may have you craving frozen treats - and you’re in luck! Local ice cream shops that hibernate for the winter are beginning to reopen their doors for the season. Here’s a list of some opening dates to look forward to this spring, along with some new offerings to their menus! Know of another spot reopening for the season? Feel free to let us know!

 

March 12: Brickley’s Ice Cream in Narragansett and Wakefield will be adding some vegan mixes to their otherwise familiar menu.

 
March 12: The Inside Scoop, a family owned ice cream shoppe in North Kingstown,  offers dairy-free, vegan ice cream and has a menu of over 64 flavors, so everyone is sure to find a few favorites!
 

March 15: Choose from a variety of ice cream and frozen lemonade flavors at Dairy King during a night out in the city.

 

March 20: For those willing to travel just over state lines, The Ice Cream Barn in Swansea offers a host of flavors - made onsite with their own barn’s milk and other locally grown ingredients - make it worth the trip.

 

March: Sundae’s Ice Cream in Cranston, Johnston, and Seekonk also has a plethora of flavors, including sugar-free and non-dairy options.

 

March: Get ready for the return of Frosty Freez’s nor’easters, banana splits, and sherbet and slush freezes in Middletown. 

 

April: Enjoy a scoop by the sea at Aunt Carrie’s Ice Cream and Gift Shoppe in Narragansett. They also offer Del’s Lemonade, as well as low-fat yogurt and sugar-free ice cream and sorbet options.

 

April: Stop by Iggy’s Creamery at Iggy’s RI in Warwick and choose from their many sundaes, some featuring their famous doughboys. You can even treat your dog to some ice cream with The Bengi, a vanilla soft serve with a milk bone dog treat.

 

May: Memorial Day weekend brings the reopening of The Original Vanilla Bean in Matunuck. If you want ice cream for breakfast and an iced coffee to go with it, no problem; this ice cream shop opens at 8am on weekends.

 

May: St. Claire Annex’s Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop features many flavors of ice cream, homemade on site in Watch Hill every day, which are sure to please.
